Canada Junior Angler Guide

As adults and parents we sometimes forget how important fishing can be to a child. Think back and all of a sudden we remember that some of our fondest memories are the times as kids that we spent fishing. Make some new fondest memories as an adult and share the experience with a son or daughter, grandchild or the kid next door. Everyone wins.

Can't find the time ? Kids don't need a full day or a week to enjoy fishing. The time it takes to play a round of golf would be more than enough.

A well-stocked pond can be the best classroom for teaching a young angler the finer points of bass or trout fishing. Casting and retrieve methods can be easily taught from the bank, and pond fish that don't get much fishing pressure will bite more readily than their larger-water cousins.

Most Provincial Governments set aside a week or weekend each year as a a "No Licence Required" time for family fishing. Ontario and PEI as an example have set aside the Victoria Day long weekend. This is an excellent opportunity to take your kids fishing and let them discover the great outdoors, responsibility, and the life long pleasure that comes from fishing.

This is Austin and he thanks his dad for taking him fishing at Klotz Lake Camp at Longlac in Northern Ontario.

We know that this will not be the last fish that Austin will catch as he is now hooked on fishing.

All kids deserve to have bragging rights for their first fish or a nice catch. We want to help.
