Nova Scotia Smallmouth Bass Fishing
Smallmouth Bass
Come bust a few smallmouth bass in Nova Scotia.
More and more American and Canadian anglers are pursuing bass. The main reason: bass fishing in is exciting. The sporty freshwater fish the smallmouth is well known for its fighting stamina and astounding leaping ability.
On a light line, the smallmouth is a spectacular battler, often jumping repeatedly and diving down into the depths. The average smallmouth bass runs from 10 to 20 inches.

Smallmouth Bass fishing in Nova Scotia is just now becoming known outside of the province, and there is little pressure on these abundant scrappy fighters. Smallmouth bass stake out different water than largemouths and their habitat extends further into Canadian waters. They can be found in rocky and sandy areas of lakes and rivers in moderately shallow water. The smallmouth will respond to plastic baits, spinners and controlled depth diving jigs and plugs. Both bait casting and spinning techniques are effective. Canadian Record: 9 lbs. 13.5 ounces.
